Mealime, the weekly meal-plan app, says it will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026, and is moving its users to Meals Hub inside Albertsons Companies grocery apps.1 On October 5, 2026, Mealime’s homepage still invited visitors to join over 4,500,000 others.2

The short answer
Take Meals Hub if
You want Mealime itself, more or less: the same recipes from the same team, free.1
You already shop at Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, or one of their sister chains.1
Try Souva if
You mostly opened Mealime to decide what to cook tonight.
You would rather start from the food already in your kitchen than from a plan.3,4
You would rather not keep your cooking inside a supermarket’s app and account.3
Meals Hub, where Mealime is sending you
For planning the week, the Mealime way
For anyone who planned with Mealime, Meals Hub is a good landing: the recipes and the planning come
across, and it costs nothing. What changes is where it lives. It is a section of a supermarket’s app rather
than an app of its own, you sign in with that supermarket’s account to use it, and the app around it is built
for shopping at stores that many people do not have nearby.
Albertsons Companies bought Mealime in 2021, and Mealime’s recipes and planning tools have been inside its grocery apps ever since.1 Meals Hub is not an app of its own. It is a section inside the Albertsons Companies grocery store apps: you tap the More icon in the bottom right corner of the store app, then Meals Hub.1
It is free, including the recipes that were part of Mealime Pro, and it carries every Mealime recipe plus thousands more, from the same team.1
It keeps what Mealime was for: meal plans, shopping lists, and settings for diets and food restrictions.1
You do not need to live near one of the stores: Mealime says you can still browse recipes, make meal plans, and build shopping lists in Meals Hub if you cannot shop at an Albertsons Companies store.1
The store apps Mealime’s notice points to are ACME Markets, Albertsons, Carrs, Haggen, Jewel-Osco, Pavilions, Randalls, Safeway, Shaw’s, Star Market, Tom Thumb, United Supermarkets, and Vons.1 Those are regional chains: Albertsons Companies runs 2,240 stores in 35 states and the District of Columbia.5
To use it, you create or sign in to an account in a store app, and some preferences and settings have to be set up again in Meals Hub.1 It is also on the stores’ websites, once you pick a local store.1
Before October 21
Pro subscribers will not be charged again before the shutdown, and every Pro recipe and feature is now open to all Mealime users.1 Mealime says all personal data will be deleted when the app is shut down, and that until then you can use your privacy rights, including deleting your data yourself.1
Souva (ours)
For deciding what to cook from what you already have
If what you opened Mealime for was tonight’s dinner, start here. Souva begins with the food
already in your kitchen and works out what it can become.
Starts from your kitchen. Souva searches real recipes from across the web and ranks them by how much of each one your pantry already covers, with an honest list of anything you are missing.3,4
Fills the pantry from a photo or a receipt. Its store listings name four ways to get a kitchen in: a photo of your ingredients, a barcode, a grocery receipt, or typing.3,4
Writes a recipe when nothing fits. When nothing published fits, SouvAI writes a new recipe from exactly what is on your shelves.3,4
Builds the shopping list. It saves favorites and builds a shopping list for whatever a recipe needs that you do not have.3,4
Not a subscription. Nothing in it is behind a paywall. Every feature is in the free app, with a daily or weekly allowance on the four that call an AI model, and an optional short ad tops up most of them. The one purchase, Souva Unlimited, is $4.99 once, not a subscription: it removes the ads and raises those allowances, and unlocks nothing the free app lacks.3,6
No account. There is no account to make, and the pantry never leaves your phone.3
Still shipping. Souva is in active development: both stores show an update on August 27, 2026.3,4 Not every app in this category still is. SuperCook’s Android app was last updated on October 16, 2025, and its iPhone app on June 15, 2022.7,8 MyFridgeFood, a free check-off-what-you-have recipe finder, has not had an App Store update since February 3, 2023.9
Souva is not a meal planner. It answers what to cook tonight rather than planning a week of dinners the way Mealime did; if the weekly plan is the part you will miss, Meals Hub or Samsung Food fits better.
It is the closest thing to Mealime’s whole loop in an app of its own: recipe, weekly plan, shopping list.
Samsung Food saves any recipe from any website, plans your week, turns the plan into a shopping list, and shares both with family or friends.10
Cost
Samsung Food is free on iPhone, iPad, and the web, and a paid tier, Samsung Food+, adds AI-personalized weekly meal plans.10
AnyList
For a grocery list the whole household shares
If the list was the part of Mealime you used most, this is an app built around the list.
AnyList shares one grocery list with a partner or roommates, and items checked off show up in real time while someone shops.11
Cost
There is a free plan, and AnyList Complete is $9.99 a year for one person or $14.99 a year for a household.12
Paprika
For keeping the recipes you already love
If you would rather own a collection than follow a plan someone else writes, this is the best home for one.
Paprika keeps your recipes in categories, saves new ones from any website through its built-in browser, plans meals on daily, weekly, or monthly calendars, and builds grocery lists sorted by aisle.13,14
Cost
Paprika costs $4.99 on the App Store, paid up front, and each platform’s version is sold separately.13,14
